As of August 2024, Croatian citizens enjoy the privilege of visa free travel to 183 countries, highlighting the country’s growing global influence and connectivity. Airports boosting tourism in Croatia:

Brač Airport on the island of Brač, near the town of Bol, experienced a 19.6% increase in passenger numbers in 2023, handling a total of 19,073 travelers. As one of Croatia’s three island airports, Brač Airport primarily caters to charter flights from Europe during the summer season, serving as a key point of entry for tourists.

Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport, commonly known as Čilipi Airport, is located 15.5 km (9.5 mi) from Dubrovnik’s city center. It plays a crucial role as an international gateway to the region. The airport, which was the third busiest in Croatia in 2019, saw a robust recovery in 2023, surpassing the two million passenger mark in September. Dubrovnik Airport’s long runway allows it to accommodate heavy long-haul aircraft, making it a popular destination for summer leisure flights.

Osijek Airport, often referred to as Klisa, serves the city of Osijek and its surrounding areas. Located 20 km southeast of Osijek, the airport saw significant growth in 2023, with 36,791 passengers passing through its gates. This increase reflects a strong recovery in air traffic, positioning Osijek Airport as an important regional hub.

Croatia Airlines Ltd., the country’s flag carrier, continues to play a vital role in connecting Croatia with the rest of Europe. Headquartered in Buzin near Zagreb, the airline operates from its main hub at Zagreb International Airport, with additional focus cities in Dubrovnik, Split, and Zadar. In 2022, Croatia Airlines transported 1.8 million passengers, a 77% increase from the previous year, though still 18.6% below 2019 levels. In July 2024, the airline began operating its first Airbus A220-300 aircraft on domestic routes, featuring a 149-seat configuration. The introduction of this new aircraft is part of Croatia Airlines’ fleet renewal plan, with a total of 15 A220 aircraft set to be delivered by 2027.
