The Chamathang hot spring in Ladakh is poised to emerge as a key eco-tourism destination, with development plans underway to transform the area into a thriving tourism hub. The project focuses on sustainable tourism and aims to attract visitors with its natural beauty and therapeutic offerings.

The development area spans approximately 12.5 acres, with plans that include several eco-friendly features and essential facilities. Among the proposed developments are food courts, therapeutic pools, hydrotherapy centers, and local Amchi stations that highlight traditional healing practices. Additionally, the project envisions a Sowa-Rigpa satellite therapy center to complement the hydrotherapy services.

A key component of the plan is the creation of a shopping center with a kiosk market, which will provide public gathering spaces for tourists to enjoy. Rehabilitation centers will also be established as part of the overall infrastructure to support sustainable tourism in the region.

The project will emphasize sustainable architecture, with a focus on eco-friendly construction methods and a Net Metering plan to promote energy efficiency. The goal is to ensure that the development aligns with the principles of eco-tourism, minimizing its environmental impact while offering a unique experience for visitors.

The Chumathang Hot Spring, located approximately 138 km from Leh along the Indus River, is known for its medicinal properties. The spring, situated near the river, attracts visitors seeking therapeutic relief from its sulphur-rich waters.
