The Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge Regatta marks 14 years of celebrating yachting excellence and supporting community empowerment through i-tri.
The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) will highlight the stunning twin-island destination through a series of events in Sag Harbor, bringing together the charm of both Caribbean islands in the Hamptons. The series will culminate with the renowned regatta.
Celebrating its fourteenth year, the Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge Regatta continues to enhance yachting in Antigua while supporting i-tri, a community-driven nonprofit founded by Theresa Roden. This initiative empowers young women through triathlon, fostering self-respect, personal empowerment, and healthy lifestyle choices among adolescent girls.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Charles “Max” Fernandez, will lead the delegation and travel to the Hamptons to oversee and attend events. “The Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge is one of our most eagerly anticipated promotional events, showcasing our dominance as a premier sailing destination and the renowned Antigua Sailing Week. We are thrilled to continue raising awareness of our diverse, twin-island destination in the Hamptons while supporting i-tri and their mission to inspire and empower adolescent girls,” Fernandez said.
The centerpiece of the four-day promotion will be the Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge Regatta, taking place on Saturday, August 10th. Around twenty yachts are anticipated to race in and around Noyack Bay for this handicapped competition, organized by the Peconic Bay Sailing Association.
The victorious team will be awarded the Northeast’s premier sailing prize: an all-expenses-paid trip for the Captain and Crew to Antigua to compete in the spectacular 2025 Antigua Sailing Week, scheduled from April 27th to May 3rd.
The Antigua and Barbuda delegation at the regatta will include notable figures such as Ambassador Gilbert Boustany, Consul General of Antigua and Barbuda; Dean Fenton, Director of Tourism for the USA; and Marilyn Pires from ABTA USA.
Following the regatta, everyone is invited to the Taste of The Caribbean Awards Party at Bell & Anchor (3253 Noyack Rd, Sag Harbor, NY) starting at 5:30 pm. This vibrant celebration will feature an array of Caribbean flavors. Attendees, including spectators, community members, and supporters, can savor exquisite cuisine and have the chance to win fantastic prizes donated by local merchants and restaurants. All proceeds from this event will benefit i-tri.
