The allure of Bali as a travel destination seems far from waning. According to recent statistics from one of Australia’s leading online travel agencies, there’s been an impressive 45% increase in flight bookings to Bali year-over-year. This robust growth is even more remarkable when considering that bookings for July and August of 2024 are nearly double (up 95%) those for the months of September and October.

Webjet reveals that Australian interest in Bali outshines that for other preferred locales such as Fiji, Phuket, and Koh Samui, with bookings 158%, 169%, and 194% higher respectively. This surge has positioned Bali to represent one-quarter (24%) of all international flight bookings on Webjet throughout the Australian winter.

From 1 July 2023 to 17 May 2024 for travel between 1 June 2024 and 31 August 2024, the top 10 destinations are led by Bali at 24%, followed by London at 9%, and other locations trailing behind.

Despite its popularity, traveling to Bali during peak season has its challenges. Yet, October still offers opportunities for more economical travel.

Webjet also notes a significant trend in family bookings (combining adult and children fares) which make up a substantial 71% of bookings during peak periods. However, the older Australian demographic (over-55s) shows a decline, representing just 22% of bookings, a significant drop from 37% last year.

With the introduction of a new tourist tax in February this year, there’s ongoing discussion among Bali officials about a potential significant increase in this levy.
