Kenya Airways (KQ) is set to enhance its UK service with the launch of direct flights to London’s Gatwick Airport (LGW), starting 2nd July 2025. The new route will operate from Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), giving travelers an additional option for seamless access to London.
This development means Kenya Airways will now connect the United Kingdom through two major London gateways: Heathrow Airport (LHR) and Gatwick Airport. Passengers can look forward to the convenience of choosing between two nonstop flight options to the UK capital.
The new Gatwick service is scheduled to run three times a week, departing Nairobi during the night on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This complements the airline’s existing London operations, boosting the frequency of flights to the city to a total of 10 weekly.
Kenya Airways’ expanded London schedule reflects its commitment to offering more flexibility and connectivity for passengers traveling between Nairobi and the UK.
Commenting on the new route, Kenya Airways Group Managing Director and CEO said that it is part of KQ’s route expansion strategy and offers convenience for customers. He also hinted at the potential for further expansion, stating that ‘this is just the beginning of our expansion plans for the UK market ‘.
“The United Kingdom is essential and strategic for Kenya Airways and Kenya. It provides a gateway for trade, tourism, education, business, leisure travel, and diaspora connections. We are excited to add Gatwick Airport to our expansive network as it means that KQ guests now have more options in and out of the UK and a convenient schedule that suits their travel preferences.” said Mr. Kilavuka.
